NUMBAT is a freely-licensed resource supporting numeracy and statistics for students in Further- and Higher- Education. It has been developed from the earlier NuMBerS project, that was funded by the HEA Centre for BioSciences and Anglia Ruskin University. NuMBerS was designed to provide consistent online support for students, predominantly in life sciences, alongside taught modules.
NUMBAT follows the NuMBerS structure in interfacing 'toolkits' (instructions for a technique or process) with case studies that provide example data. In NUMBAT, we have provided the opportunity to submit additional case studies and other resources, so that the context of the resources is broadened beyond its original remit for the life sciences.
The NUMBAT site is a product of an individual project in the UKOER programme awarded to Dr Toby Carter, Department of Life Sciences, Anglia Ruskin University. UKOER (UK Open Educational Resources) has been funded jointly by JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) and HEA (Higher Education Academy).
